Saint Mary’s Health Plan has selected Tethys Health Ventures (Tethys) in partnership with Freedom Disability to provide Saint Mary’s Health Plans members with information and advocacy services regarding programs administered by the Social Security Administration.
Freedom Disability is the nation’s premier provider of government program advocacy services for health plan members and has a specialized division with significant expertise in the area of Social Security law. Some interesting points to consider:
- Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) is a government mandated insurance program into which working individuals pay. If you become disabled it will provide you with a monthly disability check – averaging close to $1,000 per month.
- Three out of 10 individuals will become disabled and lose their ability to work before full retirement age.
- An eligible disabled individual who does not apply for Social Security Disability benefits (SSDI) may lose a portion of his or her future retirement benefits from Social Security.
- In addition to the monthly cash benefits, enrollment in SSDI may qualify you for Medicare in advance of your 65th birthday.
